The idea for the Illustrious Women series came to me in early 2017. It seemed there was a collective need to celebrate the feminine, and I wanted to draw attention to and educate myself about the many women who have gone before me- women who lived the lives they wanted to and bettered the world in the process.

We know Mrs. Obama from her time in the White House, but she was already an accomplished woman when she moved there. She had earned two Ivy-league degrees and pursued a career path working with people to serve communities and their neighbors.

As First Lady, she concentrated on programs designed to get kids exercising and eating well, to further education for young people and support veterans and their families.

Now that her time at the White House is over, she continues to work on initiatives promoting voting and education. She has written and published an inspiring memoir and has traveled the country on a book tour and as a motivational speaker.
